For those who missed it in our main bulletin, please find attached a copy of the joint Bromsgrove and Redditch cost of living leaflet.  It’s an ‘at a glance’ leaflet containing key contacts who can provide expert help and signpost to relevant local support.  Please help promote – both a printable and a website version of the leaflet are attached.  There are also supplies of printed copies available at Customer Services at both Redditch Town Hall and Parkside in Bromsgrove which you can collect and distribute to your service users.  We are particularly keen to reach those who may be digitally excluded.

Local Warm Spaces – Do you know of any others?

Below are the ones we know are confirmed and wanted to share with you.  But if you know of any others in Redditch or Bromsgrove, or any agency is thinking of similar, please let us know so that we can help link you with other agencies (if that helps) and also share your information more widely so all are aware of what’s available locally.  We could even include on the cost of living webpages mentioned above.

 

  • Catshill – Warm Welcome Warm Space

Partners have worked together to offer Catshill residents’ access to a warm space each day of the week. In addition to a warm welcome, some buildings are offering Wi-Fi and charging points. Full details can be found on the attached leaflet.

 

  • Weekly Community Meal at Bromsgrove Baptist Church

Local residents are being offered a warm welcome and free meal in a friendly environment.  The meals are available every Thursday (during term time) at 7:30pm at the Bromsgrove Baptist Church. There is no need to book, you can just turn up, but if it’s a larger group, it would be helpful to let them know in advance. Further information can be found on the attached leaflet.

The church is also running “The Coffee Pot” on the third Thursday in the month from 10.30am-12.00 noon, serving tea, coffee, cakes, and light refreshments which might be suitable for people who don’t or can’t go out in the evening.

 

  • St Godwald’s Community Spirit

Please find attached a leaflet with details of the warm space offering from St Godwald’s Church in Bromsgrove that will run between November to March. Tea, coffee, and cake will be available on alternate Friday’s starting on 28th October, 10am-12.30pm.  On alternate Wednesdays, the Warm Welcome Café will be open starting on 2nd November, 12-3pm offering soup and a roll, tea and coffee.

  • Local libraries across Worcestershire

The libraries are continuing to offer warm, welcoming spaces for residents to access free services, find information and support, take part in events and activities, and connect with other people. Full details can be found attached. Local libraries are in the process of registering with the ‘Warm Welcome Network’ (see below).

Warm Welcome Network

The Warm Welcome Network was set up to support and champion the community response to the cost-of-living crisis. Any organisation that has opened or are opening free, warm, welcoming spaces for the public over this winter can register and provide details of their offer so that users can search for local warm spaces in their area.

Looking for Funding?

National Grid Electricity Distribution has teamed up with Localgiving and are offering grants of up to £10,000 to organisations tackling fuel poverty.  They are accepting applications until midnight on Monday 31st October 2022.  All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by Tuesday 15th November 2022.  All projects must be completed and the funding must be spent by 31st March 2023.  Further information can be found at: Community Matters Fund – Fuel Poverty Plus | Localgiving

Live Music at Beoley Village Hall

Hi everyone,
We have more live music next week at the Hall on Wednesday 26th October when we welcome the Jake Leg Jug Band.
A list of the remaining forthcoming events in 2022 is provided below.
Unfortunately, I have to advise that since the pandemic attendances for the events we have organised have been very disappointing and it is simply not viable for us to continue to subsidise events of this nature.   Consequently, unless we can find a way of substantially increasing our turn outs, we would have to review what type of events, and how many, we should consider arranging.

On Saturday 3 Decemberber 2022 – we have the
“THE REFLECTIONS.“ playing a selection of 1960s Pop and Rock & Roll music. The Reflections have played at Beoley Village Hall several times, to a capacity audience, so make sure you order your tickets soon! This event was originally planned for 2021 and we are delighted that, 12 months later, we are finally able to host this incredibly popular band!

Pin your poppy

In the lead up to Remembrance Day, I have launched an exciting ‘Pin your poppy’ project to honour servicemen and women – past and present.

The project celebrates the connection between the armed forces and police by asking community groups, residents and businesses to come together by creating and pinning poppies onto Unknown Tommy statues by Thursday 10 November.

The statues, created by The British Ironwork Centre, are located all across West Mercia outside police stations at Malinsgate, Kidderminster, Malvern, Hereford, Shrewsbury and West Mercia Police’s Headquarters at Hindlip.

Tackling burglary in West Mercia

Earlier this month, I appeared on BBC Hereford and Worcester to talk about the spike in burglaries in South Worcestershire.

I want to reassure you that I will continue to champion measures that ensure burglary continues to fall across West Mercia and public satisfaction continues to rise.

Burglary can have a devastating impact and it’s right that you get the best service in your time of need. Before the national announcement, I had already secured commitments from the force to attend all burglaries.

Through my ‘We Don’t Buy Crime’ scheme there has been the rollout of more than 60,000 SmartWater kits to help deter criminals and protect properties.

Visibility and accessibility of police officers in communities is also increasing with officer numbers set to reach their highest level in more than a decade.

Violence against women and girls

More must be done to tackle violence against women and girls.

There is sadly a problem in society where a minority of men are violent towards woman and girls, this accounts for one in five offences in West Mercia.

Over the past year, I have funded more than 10,000 personal safety alarms. An additional 3,000 free alarms are set to be distributed across the three counties.

Confidence in West Mercia Police remains high

The latest results on the public perception survey are in with 81% of respondents saying they have confidence in West Mercia Police.

It is good to see a majority of people can trust and rely on the police when they need them. However, there is still a way to go, I want everyone in our communities to not only be safe but to feel safe.

Visibility is an area of focus I know matters greatly when I’m speaking to people across West Mercia. I am holding the force to account on this, and I am reassured improvements are being made. This is made possible by a set of commitments laid out in the Community Charter plus a recruitment drive to increase police officer numbers to the highest level in more than a decade.

Hate crime awareness week

Following my investment of £54,000, ‘I am me’ training sessions took place last week as part of Hate Crime Awareness Week.

The week encourages local authorities, key partners, and communities affected by hate crime to work together to tackle it in their local area.

To improve their understanding of hate crime and where to signpost support victims the sessions were delivered to schools, the police, safeguarding partners, local authorities, community safety partnerships, community groups and those in the private sector such as leisure and hospitality.

Survey responses set to shape estates strategy

Thank you to everyone who completed my estates consultation.

The draft strategy sets out proposed plans for police buildings over the coming years to provide a local and accessible police service for communities across West Mercia.

As the voice of the public in policing, I will continue to have conversations with West Mercia Police about their requirements and use all the feedback gathered through this consultation to shape the final estates strategy.

M40-M42 Interchange Scheme: Progression to Central Reservation Upgrade

We’re moving towards completion of our enabling works which includes vegetation clearance, surveys, drainage and speed camera
installation, and onto the upgrade to the central reservation.

To safeguard motorists and our workforce, while minimising disruption, we need to temporarily close some lanes, in 4-kilometre
(2.4 mile) sections.

These closures will take place at night when the roads are quietest. Signage will remain in place to inform and remind motorists
of these closures.

Schedule of closures until 9 December 2022 – night time (between 9pm and 6am):

M40 junction 16 to M42 junction 3a – Lanes 1 and 2: from 10 to 14 October 2022

M42 junction 3a to M40 junction 16 – Lanes 1 and 2: from 17 to 21 October 2022

Stay Safe, Stay Back Campaign

National Highways is continuing to run its ‘Stay Safe, Stay Back’ campaign to further increase the number of motorists who
leave at least a two-second gap between themselves and the vehicle in front.

The campaign is still primarily aimed at commuters aged between 25-55 who use the strategic road network at least once a
week.

Orange Button Community Scheme Launch – Suicide Awareness and Prevention

The orange button scheme has been launched in Worcestershire and Herefordshire and offers signposting and support to people with suicidal thoughts or anyone concerned about someone who might be.  The orange button is worn by people who have relevant training in mental health and suicide prevention.

The aim of the scheme is to:

·        create a community of people trained in suicide awareness that have gained skills, including active listening, from quality assured training;

·        create a network of organisations that have orange button wearers in place that can be identified, listen and signpost;

·        ensure all communities are aware of the Orange Button, what it signifies and how people can be involved, by promoting from within the community.

 

Anyone who wants to get involved can apply for an orange buttons via the Now We’re Talking website.

Living with Dementia Toolkit

On behalf of NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire and developed by the University of Exeter in conjunction with Innovations in Dementia, the Living with Dementia Toolkit is for people with dementia and their carers. This set of resources is based on research, and the expert experiences of people with dementia and their carers.  It aims to: give hope for the future, inspire through examples of real-life experiences, offer ideas to help  ‘live your life as you choose’.  To access the resources, please visit: Living with Dementia Toolkit

 

Wellbeing and Recovery College

The wellbeing and recovery college is made up of a partnership of Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, Voluntary and Community Sector organisations (VCS), Public Sector partners and Experts by Experience across our communities in Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Their aim is to increase awareness and understanding of recovery and self-management, while breaking down the stigmas relating to mental health.  The college offers a wide range of learning opportunities with a focus on wellbeing and recovery. The annual stop smoking campaign Stoptober has been launched. A range of resources are now available on the Campaign Resource Centre, including various printed posters as well as downloadable resources for use on social media, websites, and digital screens. Mental Health Action Group (MHAG) Redditch are holding an event on Saturday 8th October at the Kingfisher Centre Redditch. Making Mental Health & Wellbeing a Priority For All – Event

Hate Crime Awareness Conference

This year, in support of national Hate Crime Awareness Week 2022, North Worcestershire Hate Incident Partnership will be hosting its annual Hate Crime Awareness Conference on the 14th October between 10.00am – 13.00pm at Parkside, Bromsgrove. This year, there are three exciting, high profile Keynote speakers:

  • Naughty Boy – award-winning music producer, songwriter, and musician Shahid Khan, better known nationally and internationally by his stage name Naughty Boy
  • Azeem Rafiq – inspiring anti-racism campaigner and former professional cricketer at Yorkshire County Cricket Club

·       Rt Hon. Stuart Lawrence MBE – author, motivational speaker, brother of Stephen Lawrence

As well as the conference, Bromsgrove and Redditch residents can help crack down on hate crime by supporting a pop-up event on 10th October, 11am – 3pm, in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and in Bromsgrove on 11th October, 11am – 2pm, in the Market Area of the High Street. The information stands at the pop-up event will provide information and materials about what a Hate Crime is, how it can be reported and what support is available to victims and witnesses.

 

New Dementia group – Redditch and Bromsgrove Meeting Centre

Meeting centre groups are for people who have a diagnosis of dementia and are experiencing mild to moderate symptoms. They are a place where people can socialise and take part in stimulating and meaningful activities.  Members can attend alone, but carers are also welcome to stay. The New Bromsgrove Meeting Centre is being held in Crabtree Court, Parkwood Road, Bromsgrove on Tuesdays, 10.30- 3.30pm. The Redditch Meeting Centre is for people with young onset dementia (diagnosed under the age of 65) and is held at the Forge Needle Museum on Mondays.  See the poster attached or to find out more about the groups and the free taster sessions call 0800 008 6077.

West Mercia Women’s Aid drop-in sessions in Redditch Job Centre

Stroke Services – Join the Conversation and have your say!

NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB), on behalf of the Stroke Programme Board want to hear what people about the issues and potential solutions discussed in the Stroke Issues Paper and presentation. You do not have to have had a stroke or know anyone who has to complete this survey, they would like to hear from a wide range of people.  The survey can be found here and should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Redditch District Collaborative – Asset Mapping – Is your service included?

Many of you will be aware that the Redditch District Collaborative (RDC) is led by the Redditch Primary Care Networks (PCNs) working with other agencies.  The Programme Team for Redditch District Collaborative (RDC) are currently inviting organisations, services and individuals who are delivering to the communities of Redditch, to share their service information for Asset Mapping. Deaf Awareness Course *FREE training* – places are limited.

Action Deafness have funding to deliver free training to organisations who operate within the Bromsgrove District. This informative course will cover: • Types of Deafness • Models of Deafness • Communication tactics • Invisible disabilities • Types of hearing aids• Barriers to communication • How to get Deaf people’s attention • How to book an interpreter • Basic signs such as, greetings, questions, and the alphabet • Lip reading challenges.  Training will take place on Wednesday 19th October at Parkside. Carbon Literacy Action Day

The Carbon Literacy Action Day on 7th November is the world’s largest climate education training day. It brings together hundreds, and maybe even thousands, of people from all walks of life, ages, and countries all across the world, to simultaneously complete their days’ worth of Carbon Literacy training. Wyre Forest Big Band at Beoley Village Hall

Hi everyone,
On Saturday 8th October, Beoley Village Hall is hosting the Wyre Forest Big Band. This is the first time we have had a big band inside the hall, but some of the musicians have played here before in other bands.
 
The band were due to play for us at our VE Anniversary Event which was cancelled during the covid lockdown so please come along and support live music at your local village hall.

Your monthly update direct from West Mercia Police on the latest scams and frauds

THE RISING COST OF LIVING

We are all very aware of the current rising cost of living and no more so than the Scammers and Fraudsters who prey on the public’s emotions with tempting offers of rebates, discounts and prize awards. It is quite likely that these will be on the increase in the coming months.

At over one third of the reported crime, Fraud is extremely high on the number of the reported crimes in the region. Even more worryingly the actual number of Frauds and Scams may well be much higher as many victims are too ashamed or embarrassed to report the crime.

Never be afraid to report any such Frauds immediately to Action Fraud at the contact details at the foot of this message.

Whilst everyone wants to make savings, our awareness must be raised to the many and various, very authentic looking e-mails and texts, as the Fraudsters up their game in light of the current crisis.

For example, Scammers are taking advantage of the cost of living crisis and impersonating energy providers in very authentic looking emails to trick people into sharing their personal details.

A typical example of a current scam, now circulating, comes from British Gas offering an energy bill rebate of £315.

  • The email looks genuine as it uses the British Gas logo and brand and may even contain the account number
  • However it is not addressed to the account holder, only the email address of the customer
  • British Gas will always address you by your full name or surname, and will never ask you confirm or provide personal details via an email
  • Always check such emails for spelling and grammar errors, and check out the sender’s email address to make sure it is, as listed, on the company website or on any invoices you have
  • Finally, never click on any links within such emails. The email may not ask for cash, but sharing your personal details may open the door for scammers to access your bank accounts

Whilst this is just one example, the tricks and ploys used by Scammers are many and various, as highlighted in previous messages.

Examples of other fake messages circulation at the moment include the following:

·         An email claiming to be from OFGEM claiming the recipient is due a refund; OFGEM would never make such an offer and the email address of the sender  is obviously fake.

·         Phone Calls claiming to be from your local authority asking for bank details to make payments for Energy Rebates or Household Support Funds. Local Authorities will never ask for such details over the phone.

·         Fake parcel delivery messages claiming to be from genuine Parcel Delivery services, with clickable links to make a payment of a delivery charge or provide personal details – never be tempted to “Click”

·         A plethora of fake money saving schemes such as food giveaways and fuel gift cards

Finally, as people search for bargains through online second hand sales sites they become easy targets by paying for items which never arrive or even exist.

Research the seller first, then try and pay by credit card where possible or select another secure method of payment that protects the payer.

Take Five To Stop Fraud

  • STOP: Taking a moment to stop and think before parting with your money or information could keep you safe.

  • CHALLENGE: Could it be fake? It’s okay to reject, refuse or ignore any requests. Only criminals will try to rush or panic you.

  • PROTECT: Contact your bank immediately if you think you’ve fallen for a scam

and report it to Action Fraud

If you’ve fallen for a scam, report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or via actionfraud.police.uk.

 

Scam Text messages can be forwarded to 7726 to help phone providers take early action and block numbers that generate spam on their networks.

HM Queen Elizabeth II

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II. I want to pass on my deepest condolences to all members of the Royal Family during this immensely sad and difficult time.

Throughout her 70-year reign, Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II has exemplified public service. As our longest-serving monarch, she has remained a shining beacon of stability, leadership and comfort to the country. Her memory will live on, and she will continue to be an inspiration to us all.

I know communities across West Mercia will share my feelings of sadness and, through our mourning, I hope we will all take the time to remember her steadfast service to the country.
Queen’s Green Canopy

In light of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, it’s fitting to hear that the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative will be extended until the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memoriam to honour Her Majesty.

The trees I have planted in partnership with West Mercia Police will continue to flourish in the autumn sunshine.
New Deputy PCC confirmed

On Wednesday 7 September, Marc Bayliss was confirmed as Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner at the West Mercia Police and Crime Panel meeting.

Marc will take up his role on Monday 26 September and will support me in delivering on my commitment to build a safer West Mercia.

Deputy PCC Marc Bayliss said: “It is important that we deliver the best possible police service for all communities, and that will be my overall drive as I take up this role.”

Increasing the visibility and accessibility of police officers

Police officer numbers in West Mercia are set to reach their highest level in more than ten years.

I am delivering on my commitment to increase the visibility and accessibility of police officers across West Mercia with more than 400 new officers already recruited.

Another recruitment drive has begun to not only fill vacancies but add an additional 125 officers. This will bring the total number of officers to 2,456, the highest it has been since 2009 and close to the highest number of officers on record.

Trauma teddies helping children in West Mercia affected by crime

I am proudly supporting a community initiative to craft toys for children affected by crime.

Dozen of ‘trauma teddies’ have been knitted by the Fladbury Knit and Natter group in Pershore to provide comfort and support to children who are going through traumatic and distressing events.

The soft teddies are given to young children who meet officers from West Mercia Police.

On Thursday 8 September, the Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner, Paul Middlebrough visited the group to see the teddies first hand and to thank them for their hard work and kindness.

Green light on funding to make roads in West Mercia safer

I am driving forward with measures to make roads in West Mercia safer.

More than £900,000 is being invested into three measures to curb harm on the roads of West Mercia.

I have allocated £365,800 to increase West Mercia Police’s Road Safety team by 11.5 full-time officers. Measures to tackle inappropriate speed and driver behaviour will receive a boost of £150,000.

Following on from the success of Worcestershire’s A449 average speed camera scheme, there is £400,000 available for the rollout of average speed cameras in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

Bikes donated to help children stay on track

I am donating 30 bikes seized by West Mercia Police to a project which helps young people stay out of crime by taking the right path.

The CLIMB project, run by The Children’s Society, is a unique programme providing support to vulnerable young people across West Mercia.

Following the scheme’s success in 2021, I am donating a further 30 bikes. This will be another opportunity to help children put their minds into positive activities, learn life-skills and make new friendships.

Investing in the safety of women and girls

Violence against women and girls is one of the biggest concerns in our society today.

As part of the Safer and Stronger Communities Project, a free self-defence course started in Telford earlier this month to help women and girls be safe and feel safe in their communities.

Working in partnership with the project lead, Telford & Wrekin Council, I have invested £500,000 into the project over the next two years.

I had the pleasure of visiting Kidderminster Police Station last month, to see the amazing work of two of our Independent Custody Visitors (ICVs).

These brilliant volunteers take time out of their day to make sure people in custody are being looked after, they are getting the legal support they need, and the cells are safe and hygienic.

Following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we would like to let you all know that arrangements have been put in place for a public book of condolence at the Town Hall and Parkside and space for floral tributes at the Bandstand in Church Green Redditch and the Bandstand in Sanders Park, Bromsgrove.

Services / Support – Information Updates

Household Support Fund (Phase 2 – up to end of Sept) **Pensioner Funding is still available**

Due to high demand, family and single household applications have reached the maximum allocation for this phase of funding that runs until the end of September, but we still need your help to reach our local residents aged 66 and over who may be in need.  A third of the funding was ringfenced for pensioners so this money can’t go to anyone else, and we want to ensure our pensioners receive the support that is just for them.  Promotional material for Bromsgrove and Redditch targeting pensioners has already been circulated but is attached for your convenience.  It would be appreciated if you could share, display, and hand out to help reach as many pensioners as possible who could apply to Act on Energy and Citizens Advice Bromsgrove and Redditch – details below:

The Spring/Summer 2022 Household Support Fund (Phase 2) is currently open for Pensioner Households only. If a pensioner household wishes to make an application, they can do so by telephoning the free advice line: 0800 988 2881. Qualifying pensioners from across the county of Worcestershire, can get support with their energy costs, fuel debt and where required, assistance to replace broken boilers and heating systems, subject to funding.

**Important Note** Unfortunately, due to high demand, new applications from family and single households are not being accepted. However, there is a waiting list that these households can register on as Act on Energy await confirmation of details regarding more funding due in October. Funding is now only available to Pensioner Households that are struggling and need support with food and wider essentials. To check eligibility and apply, visit:  Household Support Fund at Citizens Advice Bromsgrove and Redditch or call 0808 278 7890.

**Important Note** Unfortunately, due to high demand, no further applications are being accepted from all other household groups within Bromsgrove or Redditch.

 

Energy Advice Service for Bromsgrove and Redditch residents

Even if people are not eligible for the Household Support Fund, anyone living in the Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough can contact the Energy Advice Service, Act on Energy, to speak to expert advisors about their energy bills and minimising their home’s energy consumption while keeping warm and safe. Freephone advice line 0800 988 2881 (9am-5pm Mon-Fri) or email 

 

Seetec Pluss- List of training courses for participants

Local Policing Charter 2022

Please find attached a stakeholder letter relating to the latest Local Policing Community Charter that West Mercia Police have relaunched. The charter can be found here: Local Policing Charter 2022 (westmercia.police.uk) One important part of the charter centres on communities’ accessibility to services and information they need.  “Neighbourhood Matters” (an on-line web-based tool) allows officers and staff across all disciplines and teams from West Mercia Police to send and receive messages to the public via email, text, and voice message. Nearly 20,000 people signed up via the dedicated website Neighbourhoodmatters.co.uk but West Mercia Police are aiming to increase that number to help strengthen communications. Kingfisher Centre Event – Energy Roadshow

The Kingfisher Shopping Centre will be hosting an Energy Roadshow on Thursday 29th September from 10am – 4pm.  The Kingfisher Centre Marketing Manager, Domonique Lippett is looking for local community groups and representatives to come along during the event to provide advice and guidance to local residents on hints/tips, access to grants etc during the winter months.

Bromsgrove Shedders – Community Open Day  

The Bromsgrove Shedders are inviting people along to ‘The Shed’ for a cuppa as part of a ‘Community Open Day’ on Saturday 10th September (10am-12pm) to help raise awareness of, and support this much-valued local group!  If you know somebody that might be interested in joining (or supporting) the Shed, then please do encourage them to come along. Bromsgrove Library – Reminiscence Group restarting

With the support of The Bromsgrove Society and Home Instead this group will start back up on 28th September and meet on the 4th Friday of the month from 10-11am. This group is a great way to meet new people and feel less isolated as well as providing an opportunity to share memories, photos, and memorabilia. Flyer attached.

Dodford Children’s Farm – Open Day

Taking place on Sunday 18th September from 1-4pm, visitors can tour the facilities, meet the animals, enjoy music and dancing, refreshments plus stalls and activities. Full information can be found in the flyer attached.

Making Mental Health & Wellbeing a Priority For All – Event

Taking place at Worcester Rugby Football Club on 11 October 9.30am to 12.30pm, this Worcestershire conference is aimed at Employers’ and Employees from Public, Private and Voluntary and Community Sectors, people with mental health conditions, advocates and other stakeholders.  The event will focus on progress in this area in Worcestershire and be vocal about what needs to be done to continue stamping out stigma and discrimination.  Further details are attached.

The popular Fire Open Day Event which the Police will also be supporting, will take place at the Bromsgrove Station on Saturday 17 September 11am to 3pm.  Come along and enjoy a fun, family event!

VCS Grants Survey 

Redditch Borough Council would like to get the views from the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) in Redditch about the future of the Councils Grant Scheme. The current policy for grant giving to the VCS is in the final year of the 3-year scheme. The Council is keen to ensure that the policy continues to be fit for purpose and provides the much-needed support to the VCS. Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFR) – Public Consultation – Attendance Performance Measure

HWFR have launched a public consultation exercise on a proposal to update the Service’s Attendance Performance Measure.  They want to encourage individuals and organisations to have their say on the proposal, which is set out in a consultation document along with a short questionnaire.  The consultation closes on 16 September 2022, and results and recommendations will be reported to the Fire Authority at the end of the year. Get involved – Make positive changes in children’s coaching

The Children’s Coaching Collaborative (CCC) is a collective of passionate and committed young people’s coaches, physical education experts and policymakers with the shared vision of ensuring that children and young people – regardless of age, background or ability feel a sense of enjoyment from participating in sport and physical activity, so that they develop a genuine and lifelong love for being active. Find out more about this grassroots coaching movement and how to get involved by booking onto one of the September workshops. FREE Exercise Classes – STRONG AND STEADY

All community strong and steady exercise classes will be FREE to the user from 1st October 2022.  So, anyone that is referred in from now on, will not have to pay. The classes aim to help older people with falls prevention as well as the mental health benefits of re-connecting with other people post pandemic.
